Oak · the daily driver

Run your day in Markdown.

A daily log you can type into in two seconds, project pages that fold, and a week you can plan in blocks. Every page is a plain Markdown file. If Oak went away tomorrow, your notes would still open in any editor.

From $8 a month. 14-day trial. Your files stay yours.

What you do with it

Three ways people use Oak.

  1. 01

    The daily log

Open today and start typing. Tasks, notes and loose thoughts go in one list, and the unfinished ones carry forward.

Example. Morning: three lines for the day. Midday: a call note, one quick capture. Evening: tick off what got done, push the rest to tomorrow.

  2. 02

    A project page

One Markdown page per project, with headings that fold so a long plan stays readable, and tasks you can check off in place.

Example. A "Spring launch" page with headings for Offer, Page, Emails and Launch week. Fold three of them, work on the fourth.

  3. 03

    The weekly planner

See the whole week at once and give the work a time. Blocks sit on the days, and the page it writes is still just Markdown.

Example. Monday 9 to 11 writing, Tuesday afternoon calls, Friday morning review. Drag a block when the week moves.

How storage works

On your device. Encrypted.

Oak keeps your notes on the device you open it on, inside the browser's private file system. There is no account to hold your pages hostage.

  • One folder per vault. Each file is encrypted with AES-256, and the file names are hidden too.
  • The key comes from your passphrase and stays in memory only while the vault is unlocked.
  • A 12-word recovery phrase gets you back in, on the same device only.
  • Export any time from Settings. You get a zip of plain Markdown in the Obsidian folder layout.
  • On iPhone or iPad, add Oak to the Home Screen before you make a vault. A vault made in plain Safari can be cleared after 7 days unused.

The honest part

Cloud copy and sync between devices are next, not done. Until then, lose the device and you lose any vault you have not exported. Export now and then.

Pricing

$8 a month. Or all three for $18.

Try it for 14 days. If you stop paying, you can still read your files and export them. Read and export never lock.

Before you start

Asked every time.

Do I need Obsidian to use Oak? +

No. Oak is its own app. It writes plain Markdown and exports in the Obsidian folder layout, so if you use Obsidian, your Oak pages open there as ordinary notes.

Is this the Obsidian plugin? +

It is the same Oak, running on its own. If you are looking for the Obsidian plugin, that page is at frankanaya.com/oak.

Where does Oak open? +

In your browser at suite.frankanaya.com/oak. On iPad, iPhone or desktop you can install it to the Home Screen or dock so it has its own icon and window.

Can I use it on my phone and my laptop at once? +

Not yet. Each device keeps its own vault until sync ships. You can export from one and import on the other.

How does the free trial work? +

You get 14 days of everything, editing included. Checkout is not switched on yet, so the trial button on this page takes you to the pricing section. When it opens, the same button starts your 14 days.

What happens if I stop paying? +

Your files stay readable and you can export them whenever you like. Read and export never lock. Editing and sync need a plan.

Can I switch from one app to the Suite later? +

Yes. The other apps appear in the same install. No reinstall, and nothing moves, because every app already reads the same place.
